Why 2 Chinese Nationals In Khazanah
PRIME Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin must have a valid explanation as to why two Chinese nationals appointed by PH/DAP to Khazanah Nasional board of directors are retained.
As UMNO’s view was not sought after over the decision, the party must take up the matter seriously since the issue gets negative response from netizens, with some of them linking it to the reminiscent of PH government.
The present PN government was also accused of taking the cue from DAP after what the party had done when it was part of the previous regime.
The announcement last week that SenseTime founder Xiao'ou Tang and Tencent Holding Company Ltd senior executive vice president Lau Seng Yee would be appointed to the sovereign wealth fund's board did send shockwaves to netizens who questioned the PM over his motive.
I believe Mr PM has his own reason for it. However, it piles up on the issue of the ability of Malaysians qualified for the job.
After 63 years of Independence, our dependency on foreign corporate figures should come to a halt. When countries like Japan and South Korea are trusting their local expertise, we are taking the otherwise.
Do we have a Malaysian in Chinese conglomerates?
The Prime Minister should have approached his partners in the government prior to making such a decision.
While not putting his prerogative rights to refute, I am of the opinion that Khazanah Nasional must stay as a Malaysian interest and dominance although it has foreign investment portfolio.
It is good to be ‘international’ but not to the expense of belittling and looking down at our people’s capability.
