Who Filed Fifa Complaint Still A Mystery

Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim during the press conference in Subang on Saturday. - PIC BY MOHAMAD SHAHRIL BADRI SAALISUBANG: Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has revealed he was informed that the complaint lodged with FIFA over Harimau Malaya's seven heritage players did not come from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
He said he was told by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) that the complaint was not made by VFF, which he described as "strange".
"I was informed by the AFC. After we beat Vietnam, a complaint was lodged — but I don't know who made it.
"When I asked AFC, they told me it didn't come from the Vietnam FA (VFF). It came from someone in Vietnam, but not the FA.
"So we don't know who it is — not the VFF secretary-general, not the president. That's what I was told," he said at a press conference on Saturday.
It was reported that the complaint received by FIFA on June 11 prompted the world football body to open an investigation into the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the seven heritage players.
The matter was detailed in FIFA's official report, Notification of the Grounds of the Decision, dated Oct 6, outlining the sanctions against FAM and the seven players — Gabriel Palmero, Facundo Garces, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, Joao Figueiredo, Jon Irazabal and Hector Hevel.
According to the report's case chronology, FIFA received the complaint on June 11 — a day after Harimau Malaya thrashed Vietnam 4-0 in their Asian Cup qualifier at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil. - NST
