Where S Your Honour Muhyiddin Asks Ex Rep Who Quit Bersatu
Muhyiddin Yassin says Mazlan Bujang may have known that he was not going to be selected as a candidate in the Johor polls.PETALING JAYA: Muhyiddin Yassin has taken a swipe at former Johor Bersatu chief Mazlan Bujang for resigning from the party, questioning the timing of the former Puteri Wangsa assemblyman’s action.
Noting that Mazlan was throwing his support behind Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming state elections, the Bersatu president questioned if he really believed that Umno would field him as a candidate.
“Where is his honour? Why did he only speak up now? It could be that he knew he was not going to be selected as a candidate.
“To me, what he has done isn’t important. But if he had announced it before the state assembly was dissolved, then that’s a different story,” he said, according to Astro Awani.
Muhyiddin, who is the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, maintained that Mazlan’s departure would not affect the party’s preparations for the polls.
Mazlan resigned as the Tebrau Bersatu division chief and from the party earlier today, though he has yet to join any other party.
He said he was backing incumbent menteri besar Hasni Mohammad to lead the state again and establish political stability, adding that other Tebrau Bersatu leaders as well as 23 branch heads had also resigned from the party.
He had previously said he would not contest in the polls under Bersatu, citing differences with Muhyiddin. - FMT
