Johor Bersatu Leader Mocks Outgoing Larkin Rep S Reasons For Quitting
Johor Bersatu information chief Solihan Badri has derisively brushed off the reasons provided by outgoing Larkin assemblyperson Mohd Izhar Ahmad for the latter's abrupt departure from the party.
"Certain political parties are trying to provide a narrative regarding the actions of Izhar who left Bersatu seemingly in the hope of affecting the party's credibility and image in advance of the upcoming state elections.
"However, his actions do not affect Bersatu and he is merely fulfilling the wishes of those who influenced him to do so to weaken the party," claimed Solihan in a statement today.
Izhar who was Johor Investment, Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives and Human Resources Committee chairperson said the main factor behind his decision to quit the party was his loss of trust in Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
"Izhar has been giving various reasons, including that the party had lost direction and failed to carry out its agenda.
"Johor Bersatu believes Izhar's reason claim to have lost faith in the President Muhyiddin Yassin is unfounded, and he has done so because he believes that the PN alliance will lose in the upcoming elections and with it the right to make political appointments to GLCs and state-appointed positions.
"Izhar thinks that by leaving Bersatu the opportunity to join a certain party and remain an Exco is open despite him claiming that he does not want to defend the Larkin state seat or contest in any other state seat in the Johor state assembly elections this time," said Solihan.
Solihan appeared to be taking aim at Umno as Izhar (above) expressed his support for BN when making the announcement.
"Izhar's actions and allegations have now triggered various negative perceptions and will consume him," predicted Solihan.
He question Izhar's logic in claiming that Bersatu had lost its way and failed to fulfil its agenda because as a state Exco, Izhar was one of those who should have carried out the job.
"It is even more confusing when Izhar claims that his performance as an elected representative and Exco serving in the State Government managed to surpass the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) target when he was a representative of Bersatu, a party that allegedly lost direction and failed," added Solihan.
Izhar was the second Bersatu assemblyperson in the outgoing assembly to quit the party after Mazlan Bujang did so earlier in the week. - Mkini
