Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan claimed that the party was invited to join Muafakat Nasional after it left Pakatan Harapan.PETALING JAYA: Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan claims the party has never rejected the ummah unity agenda or rejected the invitation to join Muafakat Nasional (MN) after it left Pakatan Harapan.
At a ceramah organised by Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Bangi last night, he said Bersatu was invited to join MN after it decided to leave PH.
“We discussed this and we accepted the invitation,” he said.
However, he claimed the party had yet to receive any update after that.

“This is a fact. What happened to the invite? And who are the ones who are really rejecting the unity of the ummah?” he asked.
Several Umno and PAS leaders have been at odds about the future of MN recently, with Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan describing the alliance between the two parties as “standing on its last legs”.
However, Mohamad’s view was rejected by PAS vice-president Amar Nik Abdullah, who insisted that the two major Malay parties still needed to cooperate to ensure stability in the country.
Wan Saiful also slammed the attitude of Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders, who he said have shifted their strategy “from killing DAP to attacking PN leaders”.
“PN has been attacked repeatedly from various angles. We have to ask why is PN being attacked,” he said.
He also claimed that PN would be the main contenders to win power in Putrajaya if the integrity and credibility of Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang were not constantly under attack.
“It’s hard for us to deny that there have been repeated attacks on Muhyiddin, and this will continue until the 15th general election (GE15).
“If Muhyiddin’s character is not being assassinated and his credibility questioned, we can form a coalition after GE15, and the names from this side (PN) are the ones that will be put forward as prime minister. That’s a fact,” he said. - FMT
