Bersatu Leader Calls For Macc Reports Against Alleged Uksb Payout Recipients

A Kedah Bersatu leader is calling on his party colleagues in the state to lodge MACC reports against individuals who were named as alleged recipients of monies from Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB).
State Bersatu information chief Khairul Anuar Ramli (above) named Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Local Government and Housing Minister Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, and former foreign affairs minister Anifah Aman as those who should be reported.
According to an invitation he sent to the media today, he planned to lodge the reports at the MACC headquarters in Kedah tomorrow morning.
UKSB is a company at the heart of former deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's corruption trial involving the Foreign Visa System (VLN).
Reezal was the deputy foreign minister when Zahid was overseeing VLN in his capacity as home minister.
Khairy, Reezal, Hishammuddin and Anifah were recorded in UKSB payment ledgers and the MACC’s forensic report. and cropped up during the trial yesterday as the company's former administrative manager David Tan was testifying yesterday.
Witness’ testimony
Tan, in his testimony, also alleged that UKSB made payments totalling RM1.3 million to Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin between June and August 2018 when the latter was home minister.
Another name that cropped up yesterday as a recipient of UKSB payouts was Warisan president Shafie Apdal.
Muhyiddin has denied receiving any funds from UKSB and said he was recovering from cancer abroad when the alleged payments were made.
However, he has said that he is willing to be investigated by the MACC.
Khairul Anuar, however, did not mention his party president or Shafie - whose party Bersatu reportedly wants to ally with for the next general election - in his plans to lodge reports with the graft buster.
The Kedah Bersatu information chief also wants reports to be lodged against Tan so that the MACC can investigate whether his witness statement in the VLN trial was influenced by bribes.
Zahid is facing 33 charges of receiving bribes amounting to S$13.56 million (RM43 million) from UKSB over four years from 2014 to 2018 as the then home minister to extend the contract of the company as the operator of one-stop centre service in China and the VLN system, as well as to maintain the contract agreement to supply the VLN integrated system for the same company by the Home Ministry. - Mkini
