Warisan has warned the Sabah assemblypersons implicated in a corruption scandal against premature celebrations after MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki’s statement that the videos were edited.
ADSThe party’s women’s wing chief, Norfaizah Chua, highlighted that in addition to the videos, there were also WhatsApp conversation records, documents, financial trails, and witnesses.
“Azam never mentioned that the remaining four pieces of evidence lacked credibility.
“He also never stated that the deputy public prosecutor had directed a No Further Action (NFA) order to close the case,” she added in a statement.
Norfaizah (above) was responding to Sindumin assemblyperson Yusof Yacob who said that MACC’s explanation signals the incident should be forgotten and proves who is on the right side.
“Imagine how an incompetent assemblyperson could become a representative of the people. Does he not feel ashamed for making misleading and inaccurate statements that confuse the public?” she asked.
“I want to advise Yusof not to celebrate too early. The investigation is still ongoing,” she added.
‘We’ll be monitoring’
Yesterday, Yusof claimed to have been vindicated after the MACC chief commissioner’s statement.
He was accused of accepting RM500,000 in bribes in relation to obtaining the approval for mineral exploration licences.
Norfaizah also offered “advice” to Azam, saying Malaysians, especially the people of Sabah, are closely monitoring the progress of MACC’s investigation.
“Please carry out your duties efficiently, honestly, and with integrity - do not, under any circumstances, disappoint the people,” she added.
Earlier, Malaysiakini reported Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) Azalina Othman Said stating that prosecutors have sent back the investigation papers to MACC.
"The MACC is in the midst of carrying out the orders for further action,” she added. - Mkini
