Wan Fayhsal Claims Hamzah Real Target Behind Bersatu S Disciplinary Actions
Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin was the real target behind the party's recent purge of senior members and grassroots leaders, claimed suspended member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
Calling the entire exercise, which so far includes the sacking of Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan and four division chiefs "an extraordinary failure", Wan Fayhsal (above, centre) claimed Muhyiddin was allowing this to happen.
Speaking to reporters in Parliament, the Machang MP claimed that Bersatu's disciplinary board's line of questioning during the proceedings against them was focused on Hamzah, who is also the opposition leader.
"They want action to be taken against the opposition leader.
"That’s why those of us facing disciplinary action are merely collateral. The real target is YB Hamzah Zainudin," said Wan Fayhsal, who targeted Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin for allegedly allowing current "malfunctions" within the party to persist.
"That’s the reason we’re holding this press conference today - because I feel that the people and Bersatu members need to know that what’s happening now is an extraordinary failure, one that, unfortunately, has been allowed to continue by our own president," he stressed.
He also revealed that at least three more Bersatu state leaders have been summoned to face the disciplinary board earlier today and faced possible suspension or sacking.
On Oct 14, the Bersatu disciplinary board had ruled to suspend Wan Fayhsal for one term, and sacked its supreme council member, Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan, as well as four party division chiefs.

Wan Saiful Wan Jan (top, centre) and Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (bottom, centre) among the six in Bersatu who were either suspended or sacked from the partyThe board at the time said it found the leaders guilty of violating the party constitution and its Code of Ethics and Conduct.
The statement did not detail the violations, but it is believed that Wan Saiful and the four division leaders were expelled in connection with a recent attempt to pressure Muhyiddin into handing over party leadership to Hamzah.
Board composition in question
During the press conference today, Wan Fayhsal also claimed the party had failed to respond to their requests for a change in the composition of the disciplinary board, including to replace its chairperson Radzi Abdul Manan.
"Up to this day, the disciplinary board that convened still maintains the same composition - its chairperson is the father-in-law of Bersatu vice-president Faizal Azumu, and three members of the board serve under party secretary-general Azmin Ali.
"So, in truth, the Bersatu disciplinary board is extremely biased.
"That’s why, when we were summoned by the board, we requested that at least two of its members be recused - namely, the chairperson and also Shasha Lina, a lawyer who works under Azmin," he said.
Wan Saiful had, prior to facing the disciplinary board, taken aim at Azmin over alleged misconduct leading to the last party annual general meeting, as well as reviving the former minister's past personal scandal.
Within Bersatu, Azmin is now seen as a loyalist of Muhyiddin.

Bersatu secretary-general Azmin AliAdditionally, Wan Fayhsal today questioned an alleged delay in the appointments of two additional members to Bersatu's Appeals Board.
"According to the party constitution, the quorum for the Appeals Board is three members.
"In reality, (now) the Appeals Board cannot convene because there are not enough members appointed by the Bersatu supreme council.
"As long as the Appeals Board does not meet, there can be no final decision on the cases we are facing," he said. - Mkini
