Veveonah Hit With Negative Comments After Deputy Minister S False Accusation
Deputy Communication and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin's false remarks about Universiti Malaysia Sabah student Veveonah Mosibin had subjected the 18-year-old to negative comments on social media
Taking to Facebook last night, Veveonah (above) said she was "sad and disappointed" with what transpired
"I really worked hard for my online examinations over the last few months. And I never expected it to go viral too
"This time, I'm viral again, but with some bad effects. I don't know how to deal with negative and bad comments on social media. It hurts," she said
She was responding to Zahidi's apology for falsely claiming in the Dewan Negara that Veveonah had not sat for examinations during the time she filmed herself accessing the Internet on a treetop platform in June
Zahidi had accused the student of doing it as a publicity stunt to get viewers, but later said his remarks were based on "inaccurate information."Veveonah, when contacted yesterday, furnished Malaysiakini with her examination schedule to prove that she was not lying
In her post last night, she said she forgave all those who wronged her and thanked those who kept rooting for her
Zahidi's initial remarks in the Dewan Rakyat had been widely reported by news agencies and went viral on social media
The remarks prompted a negative backlash against Veveonah, with many accusing her of lying
However, several of her friends and course mates stood up for her and shared their exam schedules to prove that what had transpired was true
Zahidi has said that he will issue a correction for the Dewan Negara when it resumes on Monday. - Mkini
