Umno Youth Leader Urges Mic To Reflect On Party S Position Close Ranks With Bn
An Umno Youth leader has urged MIC to reflect on the party's position and return to closing ranks with BN, following heated remarks targeted towards Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
In a Facebook post today, Umno Youth exco member Fadzmel Fadzil, who is also the press secretary to Zahid, as rural and regional development minister, cited a list of media reports which he argued supported the perception of MIC's "recent series of inconsistent actions".
"I read the statement by MIC Youth chief K Arvind, who vehemently denied claims that MIC is intoxicated with power or dishonest in making its political decisions.
"Recently, Zahid demanded a clear and decisive stand from MIC, including his remark that the party says 'one thing by day and another by night'.
"When I listened carefully, the statement was delivered calmly and without emotion, and was more an explanation of Zahid’s view of MIC’s recent series of inconsistent actions," Fadzmel (above) said.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid HamidiArvind had claimed Zahid was the one "drunk on power" based on decisions to form the federal government with Pakatan Harapan and, more recently, the GRS-led Sabah government, despite Umno having criticised DAP and GRS.
In his remarks, Zahid reminded BN component parties to think carefully before deciding to leave a coalition they had been a part of for so long, especially given the constantly changing political landscape.
"If Arvind were to read the full context honestly, he would understand why such an expression crossed the mind of a leader (Zahid) who today bears the heavy responsibility of steering BN through a highly dynamic political landscape," said Fadzmel.
Arvind's remarks against Zahid earlier prompted Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh to issue a stinging rebuke.
"The 'drunk' one is the one who said they want to leave, but never left, even when their annual general meeting has agreed to leave.
"The one 'drunk' is the one who wants to join Perikatan Nasional but also wants to support the prime minister. This is 'toddy level' drunk," Akmal stressed.
‘Look at history’
Fadzmel further argued that a list of media reports from Aug 16 up to yesterday has strengthened the perception of MIC's inconsistent stand between remaining in BN or crossing over to Perikatan Nasional.
On Aug 16, Harian Metro reported MIC president SA Vigneswaran as admitting to having "discussions" with PN leaders, while Berita Harian yesterday reported MIC deputy president M Saravanan as saying that the party would remain in BN pending a final decision by its central working committee.
"Thus, the claim that there is a contradiction between words and actions (by MIC) is not fabricated.
"It arises from a sequence of events that can be read, assessed, and referenced by anyone - including my friend Arvind, the national MIC Youth chief," Fadzmel said.

MIC Youth chief K Arvind"As someone who once served as BN Youth secretary, at a time when Arvind was also MIC Youth secretary, I would like to remind him that loyalty is not tested only when a party loses power, but also when there is a small opening to power.
“What differentiates and unites us are the values of loyalty and honesty.
"Arvind also needs to look at history - that MIC’s early presidents built the party on principles of loyalty to cooperation and national stability, not emotional politics or threats.
"These are the values that should guide the entire MIC Youth leadership," he added.
Rational v delusional leadership
In his call to MIC, Fadzmel reiterated that the space for discussion is always open, whether in the BN supreme council or through any mature consultative channel.
He also contrasted MIC's current stance to MCA, with party president Wee Ka Siong reportedly also having differences with Umno, but continues to seek common ground in BN.
"That is where the difference lies between rational leadership and delusional leadership," Fadzmel stressed.
MIC’s annual general assembly last November decided to postpone a decision on whether the party would remain in BN or consider a new coalition, with a decision to hand over a final decision to the party president and the central working committee. - Mkini
