Umno Youth Chief Denies Any Discussion For Pm To Interfere In Court Matters
Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has denied any discussion regarding attempting to get Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to interfere with court matters.
He said it was illogical to demand the prime minister interfere with former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s SRC appeal as the case has reached the Federal Court level.
“I was also in the meeting earlier from 11.30am to 1.30pm, there was no urgent discussion for the Prime Minister to interfere with the courts.
“What is the logic in demanding the prime minister to intervene in the SRC case that has reached the Federal Court level?” he said in a Facebook post today.
Asyraf’s response came after Astro Awani had reported that a large section of the Umno division chiefs had rejected the suggestion for Ismail Sabri to interfere in Najib’s appeal.
He said that at the party’s next top leadership meeting, he would bring up the suggestion to take legal action against Astro Awani.
“At the next meeting, I will bring a proposal to take legal action against Astro Awani for reporting false news, without basis, that portrays Umno in a bad light,” he said.
Asyraf revealed that the meeting was mostly to discuss issues regarding the upcoming general election and hoped that Astro Awani would be more responsible in the future.
“What I can share publicly is that the discussion earlier was more about issues concerning the upcoming 15th general election.
“I hope that Astro Awani is more responsible in reporting news and sticks to high journalism ethics, not like other cheap media,” he said. - Mkini
