Umno Ppbm Not Very Practical
TRENDING is the issue of Umno and Bersatu collaborating in the next general election. As what Prime Minister and Bersatu chief Muhyiddin Yassin has put it, 'the Malays must unite for better future'.
I believe there is a big NO from Umno grassroots and some leaders. On PPBM side, they are quite mischievous in the sense that their motive and intention are questionable. Here are some facts and possibilities:
1. The fact that PPBM uses red and blue as its official colors, equating to that of Umno. Copycat? Maybe, but some suggestions that they are offering Bersatu as an alternative party for the Malays, is obviously intended to see Umno's demise.
2. The game they had played in Sabah election is somehow of rather supports the suggestions. The choice of chief minister and how they went against their own promises really hurt the party. And the fact that Umno gave away their seats for them to contest, is a goodwill they had spat on. Fielding Independents in Umno-contested constituencies proofed the degree of ill-intention they harbored against Umno.
3. With just about half a million members compared to 3.5 million of Umno, PBBM has no grassroots support. There is a possibility the so said 'cooperation' in GE15 was a passport to co-utilise and mobilise Umno machinery in their campaigns.
4. The 'get the membership' drive by offering 'something in return' to divisions with the highest number of new members is also seen as enticing Umno grassroots to join them. This is bad, really bad. However, Umno cannot stop such crossovers.
5. They just need Umno Members of Parliament (MPs) to give them the numbers. Should they grab less number of seats than Umno, they still want the No.1 seat, and of course the key Cabinet positions. Umno will once again, made a beggar.
6. If Muhyiddin is sincere and honest enough, he could have easily pick up the phone and speak to the respective parties to 'release Umno's money' and drop Zahid Hamidi's court case as nothing has pointed to his guilty verdict. Although Zahid once said he didn't want any political interference and let the court clear his name, Muhyiddin can always do it on a friendly gesture. However, the said truth that he didn't want to make Zahid his deputy, tells all.
7. This PPBM is the same party which toppled BN and formed the Pakatan Harapan regime with Dr Mahathir. So, what difference does it make between now and then? Their despise for Umno remains the same as what was demonstrated by its sec-gen Hamzah Zainuddin and Azmin Ali 'Mr Clean Guy' dubbed by Mr PM.
8. PPBM tries to break up Muafakat Nasional cemented between Umno and Pas, that's certain. By flowering Pas with 'so many things', the Islamic party that once said will not cooperate with a 'Semburit' government, seems to forgive and forget that episode.
9. They just want power. With the failure of emergency request and 'offerings' to some Opposition MPs to support Budget 2021, is seen as a desperate approach to keep them in Putrajaya, when by morality the PM should have resigned and dissolved the Parliament. However, Umno and BN again came to the rescue by throwing a 100 per cent support on Nov 26.
10. With a razor-thin majority of seats, they will try whatever dirty tricks to stay in power.
Many more but these 10 are enough to drive Umno grassroots away from that 'cooperation'. They are more comfortable with MN with Pas. Although Pas has made it clear that it will not leave Umno in MN, I better cling to my benefits of doubt
For Zahid and his team, these are the things to ponder. General election is around the corner (it could be before the fasting month of Ramadan) but I believe Zahid is wise enough to digest the issue. Don't stir Umno further like what PPBM is doing now. Be firm, the party will come out stronger... without PPBM (I believe... as at now!)
