Umno Pkr Leaders Mock New Ipr Coalition As Symbol Of Pn S Disunity

UMNO and PKR leaders have poured scorn on the newly announced Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat (IPR) coalition, calling it a reflection of disunity and desperation within PN.
UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Puad Zarkashi mocked the so-called political marriage between former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, saying it was insincere given their separate political entities.
“If PN already exists, why form IPR and the Sekretariat Orang Melayu? Why not just be under one roof?” Puad said on Facebook, adding that the multiple overlapping groups showed that opposition unity was fragile and filled with competing egos.
He said the inclusion of non-Malay opposition leaders such as P Ramasamy and P Waytha Moorthy further complicated their efforts to project cohesion.
Meanwhile, the PKR Youth also ridiculed the new coalition. Its information chief Danish Hairudin described IPR as mere political rhetoric meant to distract from Bersatu’s internal turmoil and growing tensions within PN.
“This is not a sign of strength but an attempt to paper over widening cracks,” he said, adding that the coalition lacked clear direction or purpose.
Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli also questioned the choice of name, noting that IPR was identical to the government’s Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat programme. “It shows poor preparation. They didn’t even check on Google,” he said.
Rafizi added that forming another umbrella over an umbrella signalled PN’s instability and warned that seat negotiations could become more complicated as party boundaries blur. — Focus Malaysia
