Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd (“Touch ‘n Go”) spread Christmas joy at the Home for the Children by Rumah Charis through a gifting and sharing session by Chief Corporate Development Officer of Touch ‘n Go, Lum Joy Deng and a group of 15 volunteers from the company. Home for the Children by Rumah Charis, a haven for 22 girls from underprivileged backgrounds, is a non-profit Christian-based organisation that was founded in 1988 by Reverend Dr. Teo How Ken.
Joy and the volunteers created an atmosphere of warmth and celebration for the girls, aged between 4 to 22 years old. The girls had a lot of fun as they participated in fun festive games, sang Christmas carols, opened their presents, and enjoyed a scrumptious celebration feast, all prepared by the volunteers.
After the joyous feast, the teenage girls had an intimate sharing session with Joy, where they shared deeper conversations about their hopes, challenges, and aspirations. During the engagement session, Joy also shared her personal experience as a female leader. She gave insights on the career opportunities that are available to the girls in the future and shared her tips for improving oneself every day.

“Women make enormous contributions to economies, whether in businesses as entrepreneurs or as employees. It is only right, therefore, that we continuously contribute to creating an ideal world where young girls, who are our future pillars, are empowered to achieve their dreams,” said Joy.
Prior to the visit to the home, employees of Touch ‘n Go held an internal Secret Santa event to collect gifts and other items for the home. The event encouraged employee engagement and promoted the spirit of giving back to the community.
Besides fulfilling the girls’ Christmas wish lists, the employees also contributed items such as household necessities, electrical appliances, disinfectant sprays, and school supplies. Additionally, Touch ‘n Go also contributed RM5,000 to support the overall welfare of the children as well as the maintenance costs of the home.
“Beyond providing motivation, we hope our financial contribution will help them improve and preserve their quality of life. This includes having better access to education and tools to develop their talents and skills as they work hard to become better versions of themselves,” added Joy.
In the spirit of giving, Touch ‘n Go volunteers spread their Christmas cheer at Home for the Children by Rumah Charis.
The Founder & Executive Director of Rumah Charis, Rev. Dr. Teo How Ken expressed his gratitude for Touch ‘n Go’s volunteer efforts in making the girls’ Christmas fun and memorable. “You might be from Touch ‘n Go, but you have touched my heart and stayed,” said Rev. Dr. Teo.
