It has come to the attention of football fans that Selangor started their 2023 season with an unusual 'home advantage' of three straight Super League games, plus an FA Cup.
Incidentally, this occurred during the fasting month of Ramadan.
And this has led to Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) club owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim pointing out the 'oirigins' of the FA of Malaysia (FAM), the Malaysia Football League (MFL) and the referee committee's top brasses.
"It looks like it has been planned by the top people. Where are the FAM, MFL, referee committee (members) from? All their early matches are against newly-promoted teams or bottom rung squad," said Tunku Ismail.
"There's as if somebody helping them obtain maximum points and momentum. During the fasting month, there's no travel, playing at home and in the Klang Valley.
"It's as if it's been planned from the get-go in a targeted mission after seven years of failure since Izhar Moslim's (involvement) behind the scenes."
JDT's longest streak as hosts in the entire season is two straight games.
However, Selangor aren't the only ones who have this type of fixtures. The longest streak playing at home were Kelantan United with six games, but it was due to their seven consecutive away matches.
This is followed by Sabah with five games. Like Selangor, Terengganu, Kelantan and KL City all also have four straight games at home.
The MFL announced earlier this year that the M-League fixtures will be restructured in a move to help teams save costs as well as to avoid players, especially given the extended calendar. -NST
