Apologise Over Malay Reserve Land Claim Selangor Pas Chief Told

Juwairiya Zulkifli, the menteri besar’s political secretary, said Selangor PAS chief Ahmad Yunus Hairi should apologise for trying to deceive the people by spreading lies during the holy month of Ramadan.PETALING JAYA: An aide to the Selangor menteri besar has told state PAS chief Ahmad Yunus Hairi to apologise for claiming that the size of Malay reserve land in the state had reduced “drastically” from 2019 to 2021.
Juwairiya Zulkifli, the menteri besar’s political secretary, said Yunus’ claim was “slanderous and untrue”.
She said there were 160,233.86ha of Malay reserve land in Selangor as of 2013, Bernama reported.
This had increased to 162,657.71ha in 2019 and then to 163,138.24ha in 2021, she said, with PAS no longer part of the state government.
“This means that Malay reserve land under the Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration has risen by 2,904.38 hectares.
“This includes gazetted areas in Hilir Tambahan-Hulu Langat, Kundang-Kuala Langat, Selayang Pindah-Gombak, Ulu Semenyih-Hulu Langat and Bukit Cherakah-Petaling,” she was quoted as saying.
Juwairiya, who is also the Bukit Melawati assemblyman, said Yunus should apologise for trying to deceive the people of Selangor, adding that the PAS man should repent and avoid spreading lies during the holy month of Ramadan.
She added that the Selangor government remained committed to preserving Malay reserve land and that this was being closely monitored by the state lands and mines office.
Yunus had reportedly claimed that the size of Malay reserve land in Selangor had decreased by 3,200 hectares from 2019 to 2021.
PAS used to be part of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition, with PKR and DAP.
PR had governed Selangor from 2008 to 2018, but the Islamic party left the coalition in 2015. After PAS’ departure, its splinter party Amanah joined PKR and DAP in forming PH. - FMT
