Tjh To Probe Woman S Claim That Son Was Incorrectly Diagnosed

SEREMBAN: The Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital (TJH) will probe a claim by a mother that her young son was sent home by doctors despite suffering a broken foot after being run over by a bus.
TJH director Datuk Dr Zaleha Md Noor said her officers had already met with the complainant to get a better picture of what actually transpired.
"We view the claim seriously.
"An investigation committee comprising medical specialists and doctors would be set up to probe the case," she said in a statement.
The woman, in a clip which has since gone viral, alleged that two doctors who first treated her son after the accident on Feb 3 had been negligent.
"My son's left foot was run over by a bus and I immediately rushed him to the TJH for treatment the same evening.
"The doctors ran a test including an x-ray on his foot and we were told there were no broken bones.
"The doctors did not admit him and we were given antibiotics and painkillers and told to go home," she claimed.
The woman said on Feb 7, she had to rush her son to the TJH emergency department as he had been running a high fever for days and his condition was deteriorating.
She claimed that when doctors did another CT scan and x-ray, they found that his left foot was broken and there was internal bleeding in his right thigh.
"His oxygen level had dropped and he had to be given five bags of blood.
"There was also congealed blood in his lungs and signs of septicemia," she claimed.
The woman said her son was then admitted to the intensive care unit for treatment.
She went on to say that if the doctors had been diligent from the start, her son would not have to undergo such a traumatic and painful experience.
"Till today, my son cannot stand properly and needs help to be taken to the bathroom," she said, adding that the boy also had to put on diapers.
The mother also claimed that her son would have to take blood-thinning medicine for the next three months due to complications over the past few days.
She appealed to all medical personnel to be extra careful in future as "they were dealing with lives". - Star
