Thomas Wants Probe On Accusations He Is Anti Islam

Attorney General Tommy Thomas has lodged a police report calling on the authorities to investigate accusations that he is anti-Islam.
(The Star) – In a statement, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said they received the report yesterday.
“The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) traced a post on Facebook and WhatsApp falsely quoting Thomas,” he said. The post had purportedly quoted Thomas as saying that insulting the Prophet and Islam was not a crime and that they had a right to give opinions.
“Police have begun investigations into the case under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act for slander and misuse of networks or network services respectively,” said Fuzi. Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Rosly Hassan confirmed that two special officers of the AG had lodged a report.
“The AG was not present but two of his officers came,” he said.
Kuala Lumpur City Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the case would be investigated by Bukit Aman’s Special Investigations Unit.
Section 500 reads that whoever defames another shall be punished with imprisonment of up to two years or fine or both.
It is understood that two of Thomas’ special officers – Amir Nasarudin and Siti Rahayu Mumazaini – had lodged the report on his behalf.
They arrived at the Putrajaya district police headquarters at 3.15pm and left at 4.45pm without stopping to meet the press.
Attempts to contact Thomas were unsuccessful.
However, he was quoted by an online portal as saying that he wanted the police to investigate the matter.
“There has been a vicious message circulating on social media claiming that I am anti-Islam. This is a total lie.
“It is for this reason the police report was lodged for the matter to be investigated,” he reportedly said.
