Suspect Under Macc Probe Dies In Putrajaya
Another suspect being investigated for corruption has died in MACC custody.
It was learned that the incident happened this morning at the graft buster’s headquarters in Putrajaya, involving a man in his 50s who was arrested less than 24 hours before.
Details are still sketchy while police have remained tight-lipped on the case but Malaysiakini has managed to confirm the incident with MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki, who said the suspect died while receiving treatment at a hospital.
According to Azam, the man was picked up by anti-graft investigators last night over a bribery case linked to mineral mining activities in Pahang.
“The man is among three suspects that were detained last night in connection to a money laundering case linked to the mining activities.
“During investigation this morning, our officers noticed that the man was unwell and promptly took him to the hospital.
“He died at the hospital while receiving treatment,” Azam told Malaysiakini.
He, however, could not comment on further details surrounding the case but assured that MACC will extend its fullest cooperation to the police, which is in charge of investigating the incident.

They have also surrendered all CCTV recordings that can facilitate the police probe, among others.
Meanwhile, it was learned that the victim’s body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem.
According to sources, the post-mortem will be carried out tomorrow morning.
It was understood that the other two suspects who were arrested alongside the victim in connection with the case were a mining operator and a civil servant. - Mkini
