Sorry No Cure Mca Wants Dap S Ketari Rep To Resign
MCA has urged Ketari assemblyperson Young Syefura Othman to resign over allegations that she had violated conditional movement control order (MCO) rules.
In a statement today, MCA publicity bureau vice-chief Leong Kim Soon said if Young Syefura practised what she preached, she should resign.
"On Aug 22, Young Syefura censured Primary Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali, urging the latter to resign. Ironically enough, she is in the same position today.
"If she is a person of principle who stood by her words, then what should her next action be if not to relinquish her position as Ketari state assemblyperson?" he asked.
Leong also accused Young Syefura of being insincere in her apology as it was made only after it was reported by the press.
"DAP as well should voice out over this fiasco and take action for her unacceptable behaviour instead of staying silent," he said.
Young Syefura wrote an apology on Twitter today after netizens accused her of breaching a ban on non-essential inter-district travel based on a photograph on her Instagram account.
According to the location stamp of the Instagram post, the photograph was taken at the luxury Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort, located south-west of Selangor, depicting Young Syefura and several others at a beachside picnic.
"I apologise if my actions have broken any Covid-19 SOPs (standard operating procedures). I did not use any advantage as an elected representative to move within Selangor where I reside.
"I am willing to be investigated by the authorities whether I have broken any Covid-19 SOPs," she wrote.
Netizens had poured scorn on Young Syefura over the episode, with several noting that she had criticised Khairuddin in the past.
Khairuddin was lambasted for nearly three months by Pakatan Harapan politicians after it was discovered that he was not subjected to home quarantine after returning from abroad in July.
Eventually, the attorney-general determined that there was no case against Khairuddin as he was not issued home quarantine orders.
However, the Health Ministry fined him RM1,000 anyway for reasons that are still unknown. - Mkini
