Motivation To Vote Mca Over Dap

The Chinese are angry with MCA for being friends with crooks and will vote them out for sure. This was what Shirley Lim wrote in response to my post about rabbits and hunting dogs.

SF Thean meanwhile postulates that MCA is on its way out as the Chinese have been vaccinated against MCA and will not vote for MCA regardless of how the party reinvents its image

I would like to point out that both hypotheses centres on the Chinese hatred for MCA

It is true that a lot of Chinese were taught to hate MCA and Umno, and you would not want to associate yourself with something that you hate

However, my counterpoint would be that while hate is certainly a powerful motivation, FEAR is even more powerful

You talk about the crooks, but if your survival depends upon the crooks ability to keep the ship from sinking, you would help the crooks maintain power

Don't believe me? Mahathir employed this tactic in 1999 when the Malays were all too angry with Umno and Mahathir himself

Anger led many Malays to vote opposition, but fear led the Chinese to overwhelmingly vote for BN
Fear makes you run faster, not anger. And the Chinese feared PAS back then, but underlining that fear was the fear of a lousy economy

And the fundamental choice we will make as voters will be because Pakatan has demonstrated that they are incompetent when it comes to the economy and political stability, and we prize making money more than we care about justice

Let me spell it out in case it isn't clear - the Chinese have always hated MCA but they will vote for MCA out of fear that the other side will stop them from putting food on the table

Anger won't fill an empty stomach and feed your children
