Should Wisma Putra Debunk Thai General S Claim Of Pmx As American Spy Traitor Hidden Enemy

THE opposition circle has seemingly cornered Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with yet another damning accusation – “a wolf in sheep’s clothing” that cited former head of the Royal Thai Army Radio and Television General A. Rangsi Kitiyansap.
This follows the circulation of a 58-miniute long Thai language viral video that was first aired on Monday (Nov 3) on the One31 digital TV station in Thailand.
Perikatan Nasonal (PN) lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali who elaborated on the content of the video said it centred on the Thai-Cambodia peace accord which in General Rangsi’s opinion has allowed the US to enter and interfere with Thailand’s economic sovereignty.
This is on the grounds that the peace treaty had incorporated a joint venture agreement on trade tariffs and rare earth elements (REE).
“Most shockingly is that Rangsi labelled PMX who is the ASEAN chairman as a traitor and a hidden enemy,” Rafique who is also the Pejuang information chief penned in a Facebook post which has since gone viral as evident from the 24K likes, 6.9K comments and 15K shares that it has garnered at the time of writing.
“In fact, Rangsi also labelled PMX as using the agreement to promote himself … Rangsi condemned the agreement entered into by Thailand as it’ll cause his country to lose its rights to REE which are estimated to be worth 40-50 tril baht.”
When the programme host touched on the roles of US president Donald Trump and PMX in brokering the Thailand-Cambodia peace agreement which was officially inked during the recent 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Rafique claimed that General Rangsi has even described PMX as “sai suek (spy) in ASEAN”.

Following the damning accusation, Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has called on Wisma Putra to take firm diplomatic action on the matter.
“What I regret most is that he labelled Tambun (PMX’s parliamentary constituency) a traitor and a sai suek – a spy for America. This is an issue that Wisma Putra must address either through a diplomatic note of protest or another suitable channel,” he insisted during a Dewan Rakyat debate on the 2026 Supply Bill.

Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal“What matters most is that Tambun’s dignity must be defended as he’s the nation’s top leader.”
Added the former Bersatu Youth chief who recently had his party membership suspended: “We may differ politically, but when it comes to relations between nations, I will always stand behind Tambun.”
Debunking the “American spy” claim, Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin said Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has given great acknowledgement to PMX as the facilitator of the peace talks.
“This is something we should be proud of,” he said in response to the concern raised by Wan Fayhsal during the 2026 Supply Bill debate.
As a sovereign state that maintains good diplomatic relations with Thailand, Mohamad said Malaysia would not respond to statements that do not carry diplomatic authority.
“As for those who seek to belittle the PM’s role, that is their right. Nevertheless, we’ll continue to monitor the situation closely,” he added.
Coincidentally, ASEAN secretary-general Dr Kao Kim Hourn has also commended Malaysia’s crucial role under PMX’s leadership in brokering peace in the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict which led to the signing of the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord.

In his opening remarks at the Ninth ASEAN Media Forum in Kuala Lumpur yesterday (Nov 6), he described the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord which was achieved with the support of the US and China as “a remarkable achievement” that prevented further escalation of the conflict.
“The ceasefire was reached through the work of the ASEAN chair. The honourable PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim along with the Foreign Minister and teams from the Foreign and Defence Ministries had played a crucial role in brokering the ceasefire,” added Kao. – Focus Malaysia
