Seats Belong To The People Syed Saddiq Says On Muda Harapan Clash
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has reminded Pakatan Harapan incumbents not to be too complacent into thinking that the people are their “safe deposits” in the upcoming polls.
Syed Saddiq was responding to questions from the press today after the youth-centric party announced its candidates, where nine out of 10 of them will be contesting in Harapan-held seats.
“The seats belong to the people. Most leaders are too comfortable and think that no one can compete in their areas.
“They think it’s their safe seats and cannot be ‘messed with’. It’s not fair,” he said at a press conference at Muda’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
He also said that Muda’s motto is to serve the people and defend them rather than playing up political issues without thinking of the people.
Politics of pandering
"If the multiracial moderate Malaysians don't speak up, I fear the worse outcomes after the state elections.
“What is happening now is that they (Harapan) have forgotten about the reform agenda and are playing the politics of pandering.
“Imagine what would happen after the state polls if they (Harapan) are given a ‘blank cheque’.”
Meanwhile, he said Muda will be unveiling more candidates in the coming days ahead of the nomination day for the state elections which is slated for July 29.
As of today, Muda has announced 10 candidates to be fielded in three different states.
Eight of the candidates will be contesting in Selangor, while one each will contest in Penang and Terengganu.
The candidates for Selangor are party secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi for Seri Serdang, Saiyidah Izzati Nur Razak Maideen (Batu Tiga), Thanusha Ramanieswaran (Sentosa), Melanie Ting (Bukit Antarabangsa), Al Hafiz Ikhwan Mohamad Asaad (Dusun Tua), Siva Prakash Ramasamy (Kuala Kubu Bahru), Dobby Chew (Seri Setia) and Afriena Shaqira Sariff (Sungai Kandis).
Meanwhile, the candidate in Penang is Priyankaa Loh (Pantai Jerejak) while the Terengganu candidate is Muda election director Luqman Long (Bandar). - Mkini
