Saravanan I Have No Information On Macc S Bestinet Probe
Human Resources Minister M Saravanan today said he has no information regarding an ongoing MACC probe into alleged irregularities in the selection of 25 Bangladesh recruitment agencies authorised by Malaysia.
"I don't know. I have no information. I only heard about it.
"Investigations are normal affairs. When there's a complaint or allegation, authorities will investigate, nothing wrong," said Saravanan after a function at SJK(T) Ampar Tenang in Dengkil today.
The MIC deputy president said this when asked for comments on the ongoing probe which has so far seen the MACC raiding IT solutions provider Bestinet Sdn Bhd and several companies believed to be linked to its founder, Mohd Amin Abdul Nor.
Bestinet operates the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS) used by the Human Resource Ministry and Home Ministry to manage the recruitment process at all stages.
Bangladesh's The Business Post on July 6 reported that the MACC had questioned Amin and several Bestinet officials, as well as the Bangladesh High Commission labour attaché Md Nazmus Sadat Salim.
The report claimed that Amin was questioned over his alleged close ties with Saravanan, in relation to processes surrounding the selection of the 25 recruitment agencies.
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki has so far revealed that a "Datuk Seri", owner of a company involved in the registration of migrant workers, is currently under investigation for alleged corruption and business monopoly.
Bestinet had previously denied allegations of ties with any of the 25 Bangladesh recruitment agencies, as alleged by labour industry players in Malaysia and Bangladesh.
Saravanan had also denied allegations that linked Bestinet and Amin to a "syndicate" supplying labour from Bangladesh to Malaysia. - Mkini
