Tajuddin Spoke Up As Afraid Of Macc Probe Claims Puad
Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi (left) claims that Tajuddin Abdul Rahman fears being investigated by the anti-graft agency.PETALING JAYA: Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi claims that Tajuddin Abdul Rahman held a press conference yesterday because he was “scared” of being probed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Tajuddin, who was removed as an Umno Supreme Council member last week, claimed yesterday that he was a “living witness” to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s efforts to get Umno MPs to sign statutory declarations backing opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.
Calling for Zahid’s resignation after accusing him of being power-hungry and making decisions for the party unilaterally, Tajuddin also claimed to have hosted a meeting at his house in May 2020 where a memorandum to push for Zahid’s resignation as Umno president was discussed.
“He (Tajuddin) was blowing his own trumpet at the press conference, where he twisted a lot of the facts. Everyone knows Tajuddin had many meetings at his home. Why the 200-degree turn?” said Puad in a Facebook post.
“It looks like Tajuddin is of the same ‘category’ as (Kuala Langat MP) Dr Xavier Jayakumar, Tronoh assemblyman (Paul Yong) and (Melalap assemblyman) Peter Anthony.
“They all became scared and crumbled when investigated by MACC.”
Tajuddin, the Pasir Salak MP and former Prasarana chairman, was arrested by MACC on May 27 last year over alleged abuse of power. He was released on bail the same day.
It was previously reported that his arrest was linked to investigations over the appointment of his son-in-law to a government-linked company.
In March, law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said MACC had classified Tajuddin’s case as “no further action” because it found no element of wrongdoing under the MACC Act. - FMT
