KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali was spotted alongside MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan at a gold shop opening in Little India, Brickfields.
Azmin, who is also Hulu Kelang state assemblyman, officiated the opening of the locally owned gold business, while Saravanan was present in his capacity as a community leader, according to FMT.
Also in attendance were Taman Medan assemblyman Dr. Afif Bahardin, Bersatu Youth chief Hilman Idham, who is also the Gombak Setia assemblyman, and members of the Indian community.



Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid, who also attended, confirmed the presence of political figures from opposing blocs.
Speculation about MIC's potential exit from BN has intensified in recent weeks, especially amid talk that the party may explore cooperation with PN.
Yesterday, Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition will not stand in the way if MIC decides to leave.
Zahid, who is also Umno president, said the coalition maintains an open approach, stressing that component parties are free to join or exit the alliance without coercion.
Both MIC and MCA are said to be reconsidering their position in BN due to discontent with their current standing in national politics, especially after Umno, under Zahid's leadership, entered into a political partnership with Pakatan Harapan (PH).
A key concern for both parties revolves around seat allocation, which they claim heavily favours incumbent parties. Currently, MCA holds two parliamentary seats while MIC holds just one. - NST
