Mic Ready To Move Forward With Or Without Bn
Every move MIC makes now is under the microscope.
With cracks widening inside BN, the party stands at a political crossroads, torn between loyalty to a coalition that has sidelined it and the promise of renewed relevance under Perikatan Nasional or even Pakatan Harapan.
The million-dollar question looms: What will MIC delegates decide at the upcoming annual general meeting on Nov 16?
If BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi truly wants to lead a coalition, he must stop hoarding power and start sharing the table.
Because right now, BN resembles less a coalition and more Umno’s personal playground.
MIC’s frustration is no mystery. Broken promises, shrinking representation, and mounting grassroots pressure have pushed the party to a defining moment.

Once part of a 14-party powerhouse, BN now limps forward with just four - Umno, MCA, MIC, and United Sabah People's Party (PBRS).
The 2018 electoral defeat triggered a mass exodus, leaving BN a shadow of its former self.
Four Sarawak-based parties withdrew from the coalition, leaving the once-dominant ruling alliance in disarray.
The outcome of the 14th general election also significantly disrupted the internal structure and operations of political parties within BN.
However, MIC and MCA chose to remain in the coalition despite the upheaval.

As for Zahid’s recent remarks- “there’s no compulsion to stay”, may sound diplomatic, but they carry a veiled warning.
Is he signaling that splinter MIC parties like Indian Progressive Front (IPF) and Makkal Sakthi Party are waiting in the wings to replace MIC in BN?
Discontent against Zahid’s leadership
One should understand that MIC’s discontent with BN, especially under Zahid’s leadership, has been simmering for far too long, and the pressure is reaching a breaking point.
The decision not to invite Zahid to the upcoming AGM is not a mere procedural choice.
It is a symbolic act of autonomy. MIC is sending a clear message. It will no longer play a passive role in a coalition where its voice is ignored and contributions undervalued.
For decades, MIC has stood firm in defending the rights of the Indian community and upholding the founding principles of coalition politics.
The issue at hand is not MIC’s silence - it is Umno’s betrayal. A betrayal that cuts deep, not just politically, but personally.

BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid HamidiZahid claims to respect MIC's space to resolve internal issues, but what internal crisis is he referring to?
MIC remains united under president SA Vigneswaran and deputy president M Saravanan.
The real issue isn’t internal, it’s external neglect.
And MIC will no longer be a “Yes Tuan” party. That era is over. What stands today is a party that is resilient, determined and ready to compete.
It is a party prepared to reclaim its rightful place in national politics.
The time has come to seize new opportunities to unite, evolve, and adapt to Malaysia’s shifting political landscape.
Never wavered on commitment
Despite facing waves of perception challenges, political slander, and systemic neglect, MIC has never wavered in its duty to the Indian community.
It has never abandoned its role as a voice for justice, dignity, and representation.
When component parties are treated like second-class passengers, BN unity becomes nothing more than a hollow slogan.
MIC demands respect. It demands fair treatment from its so-called “big brother,” Umno.

Because when Umno sidelines MIC, it’s not just a political manoeuvre, it’s a betrayal of shared history.
The pain is profound because it comes from a party MIC had stood by through every storm, struggle, and sacrifice.
MIC is not walking away; it is standing up for its people and principles. It is for a future where coalition politics means shared power, not silent submission. - Mkini
