Sabah Umno Bn Yet To Discuss Solidarity Cooperation Committee With Grs
Sabah Umno deputy chief Yakub Khan speaking to reporters in Kota Kinabalu today.KOTA KINABALU: Both Sabah Umno and Barisan Nasional have yet to discuss the formation of a solidarity cooperation committee with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) despite an announcement by chief minister Hajiji Noor yesterday.
According to Sabah Umno deputy chief Yakub Khan, both Sabah Umno and BN have yet to think about their roles in GRS. However, he did not dismiss the possibility of talks on the collaboration in the near future.
“Maybe GRS has thought about the collaboration but we (Sabah Umno and BN) have not thought about it yet.
“InsyaAllah, we will discuss the collaboration soon,” he told reporters after witnessing the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the science, technology and innovation ministry, Jawala Plantation Industries Sdn Bhd, and Forest Interactive Foundation here, today.
When asked to comment on the statement made by Hajiji that the solidarity cooperation committee was aimed at avoiding a clash between both coalitions in the 15th general election (GE15), Yakub said it was merely the GRS chairman’s personal opinion.
Yesterday, Hajiji said in a press conference that GRS would be officially launched on May 26, with the United Sabah National Organisation (Usno) being accepted as its newest component member.
In the same event, the chief minister announced the formation of the solidarity cooperation committee for the purpose of strengthening the ties between both coalitions, as well as preventing a clash in GE15. - FMT
