Sabah Student Group Demands Full Macc Probe Report Clearing Farhash
Organisers behind youth-led anti-corruption rallies in Sabah have demanded transparency from the MACC on allegations against businessperson Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who was linked to a mining licence scandal.
Suara Mahasiswa UMS demanded that the anti-graft agency disclose its full investigation report submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers, which then found that there had been no wrongdoing committed by any party.
“The MACC must disclose the full investigation report, including the true ownership of the company and the concession process.
“Without transparency, the decision of ‘no wrongdoing’ is nothing but an empty statement,” the group said in a statement.
Yesterday, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki recorded statements from all involved parties in its investigation, but the AGC decided that no criminal charges could be brought against any party.

MACC chief Azam BakiAzam reaffirmed that no mineral exploration licence was issued to a company linked to Farhash, a former aide to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, as it did not follow through with the submission of required documents.
He added that it was also found that there was no governance issue, and the case is now considered closed.
‘Protector of the elite’
Suara Mahasiswa UMS, however, described the decision as proof that anti-graft bodies have turned from “crime-busters into elite protectors”.
“By remaining silent and then closing the case without a detailed report, the MACC has transformed itself from an anti-graft agency into a protector of the elite,” it said.
The group further accused the authorities of legitimising “state capture” - where political elites allegedly manipulate governance systems to secure economic interests.

Businessperson Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal MubarakOn July 21, MalaysiaNow linked Farhash to a mineral exploration licence scandal in Sabah, with the news portal uploading an audio recording allegedly showing Chief Minister Hajiji Noor voicing support for a company connected to Farhash.
Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd’s board, which Hajiji chairs, subsequently denied that any company related to Farhash was granted a prospecting licence for minerals across a massive forest reserve in the state.
Farhash also dismissed the report as fake, slapping MalaysiaNow with a legal letter and lodging a police report against the portal. - Mkini
