SANDAKAN: Parti Impian Sabah has lodged a police report at the Sandakan police station Saturday (Aug 30) over several viral TikTok videos allegedly insulting Sabah’s ethnic groups, religions, and sacred symbols, including the Batu Sumpah Keningau.
Its president Michel Alok said five TikTok accounts uploaded the “extreme” content on Aug 29 and 30, warning that such videos could undermine racial and religious harmony in the state.
“That is why we lodged this report, to urge MCMC and the police to immediately take down the materials uploaded on social media so that people in Sabah will no longer see such content. Our intention is not political,” he said.
Michel said the police report highlighted five key issues, including content allegedly insulting the KDMR community, Christianity, and sacred symbols such as the Batu Sumpah Keningau. One of the videos also depicted a political leader on a cross, which he described as “unacceptable and highly provocative.”
He expressed concern that individuals could be misusing the name of a political party to provoke racial and religious sentiments.
“We are not accusing anyone, but we are worried that some people may be deliberately using certain names to create division and provoke Sabahans,” he said.
The videos posted using an account name resembling Parti Warisan had drawn widespread criticism. Parti Warisan had, on Friday (Aug 29), denied any involvement.
Michel also urged Sabahans to be cautious about content circulating on social media and verify information before reacting, adding that Parti Impian Sabah remained committed to preserving the state’s longstanding harmony and unity. - Star
