Rusila Mosque Training Amanah Mps Urge Action Against Takiyuddin
Several Amanah MPs want Parliament to discipline PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan over his controversial claims that the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) had conducted a “training” exercise which threatened the PAS-linked Rusila mosque.
At a press conference in Parliament today, Pulai MP Suhaizan Kaiat described Takiyuddin’s remarks as “very concerning,” as it risks damaging the reputation of national security forces.
“What worries us the most is the fact that the reputation of our national security forces can be tarnished simply through such provocative statements made in Parliament.
“This is why we urge the Dewan Rakyat speaker to refer the Kota Bharu MP to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee, in line with Rule 36(12) under the Standing Orders of the Dewan Rakyat,” he said.
Under the aforementioned rule, members who make statements which can be regarded as misleading, seditious, and likely to promote feelings of ill-will or hostility can be deemed in contempt of the house, and can be referred to the Committee of Privileges for their offences.
Entering mosque without permission
Last week, the Perikatan Nasional chief whip claimed that the MMEA had conducted an exercise at the mosque - an action he compared to the 1985 Memali incident, a tragedy that occurred after the police tried to arrest PAS leader Ibrahim Mahmood and his followers.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, Takiyuddin claimed that a group of 10 to 15 individuals entered the Rusila mosque in five vehicles without permission, saying this led to fear and anxiety among the congregation.
He later alleged that there was also suspicious activity near PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s house - which is next door to the mosque.

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail also confirmed this was the case, dismissing it as a misunderstanding.
PAS diversion
Hulu Langat MP Sany Hamzan, who was also at the press conference today, said that PAS leaders have chosen to misinterpret the incident because they have “run out of issues” to sensationalise.
“If you want to criticise (the authorities), then you should criticise the government and us MPs.
“But the truth is, PN only wants to cover up the ongoing conflicts within their coalition – which is the fact that there is a lot of internal division and infighting between them,” the Amanah lawmaker said.

Hulu Langat MP Sany HamzanFurther, Sany criticised PAS lawmaker Awang Hashim, who questioned if the MMEA training exercise was part of a plot to kill Hadi.
“The statement made by Pendang MP is incredibly dangerous and offensive. So I want to ask – is he saying that because he disagrees with Hadi’s role as PAS president? Does he have plans to elect someone else as PAS’ new leader?
“Amanah representatives deeply sympathise with the MMEA because they have been slandered unjustly by the Kota Bharu and Pendang MPs,” he added.
