Rsn Rayer Strongly Opposes Pandikar And Salleh Joining Pkr Even If They Are Not Joining
(FMT) – Sabah PKR president Christina Liew says there is no indication that former Barisan Nasional leaders Pandikar Amin Mulia and Salleh Said Keruak are joining the party despite meeting PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
The speculation heightened after Anwar yesterday attended a United Sabah Bumis Organisation (Usbo) Malaysia Day celebration in Kota Belud near here, where he met the duo.
Liew, who is also deputy chief minister, said, however, the Port Dickson MP indicated to her there was no news on Pandikar and Salleh becoming party members.
“When Anwar came back and officiated the Sabah PKR annual general meeting yesterday, I did have the chance to ask him if there was any indication they would join us.
“He said ‘no’. So that confirms what I said before. That settles the issue,” she told FMT after an event here today.
Liew previously said she had no knowledge of the speculation that Pandikar, the former Dewan Rakyat speaker, and Salleh, a minister under the previous BN administration, were joining the party.
On remarks by DAP’s Jelutong MP RSN Rayer strongly opposing any move by Pandikar and Salleh becoming part of the Pakatan Harapan family, Liew said the former was entitled to his opinion.
“I think everybody is entitled to their opinion. What I heard from Anwar is there is no such indication that they are joining … so it is a full-stop.
“There may be speculation but they remain that. I go for facts and figures,” she said.
Rayer yesterday said Pandikar and Salleh should not be allowed to be part of PH, adding the former Umno leaders had attempted to play down the 1MDB scandal when it first broke out.
Rayer also said the duo were former prime minister Najib Razak’s strong supporters, adding they should not be forgiven for what they had done.
Pandikar, who is Usbo president, yesterday said they supported Anwar as the next prime minister while Salleh praised the latter for not holding a grudge against him and Pandikar and other leaders who were on the other side of the political divide not too long ago.
