A PLOT twist indeed.
Detractors may likely err that UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh could ultimately be silenced or would tone down his rebellious antic by virtue of having him charged at the Bukit Mertajam magistrate’s court yesterday (Aug 22) over a Facebook (FB) statement deemed to threaten public order.
On the contrary, moral support of gargantuan proportion has seemingly poured in for the Merlimau state assemblyman from every nook and corner of the nation for championing his brand of patriotism regardless if such action has indirectly sowed the seeds of discord or disrupting racial harmony.
“If you’re trying to scare us and silence our voices … Then my answer is you’ve erred,” he penned in a FB post

“The harder we are pressured, the stronger we will fight … This is a matter of national dignity that needs to be defended.
“Thank you to all who were willing to attend from far and near. This is not solidarity for Dr Akmal Saleh but solidarity for our beloved Jalur Gemilang.”




War gong with DAPSY reverberating
For the record, the firebrand Merlimau state assemblyman has claimed trial to a charge of publishing a statement with intent to cause fear or alarm to the public.
Represented by 11 counsels, Akmal is out on a RM5,000 bail – half of the RM10,000 requested by the deputy public prosecutor on grounds that he is married with two school-going children, and that he is an assemblyman and a state EXCO member in Melaka – pending submission of documents of the case on Sept 22.
He has allegedly posted a statement on his Facebook page “Akmal Saleh” at about 3pm on August 11, which was sighted by one Chong Wei Hoong at the Bukit Mertajam MP service centre in mainland Penang.
State prosecution director Datuk Mohd Nordin Ismail presented the case under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code which provides for a penalty of up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine or both.
Hailed for his heroics as a genuine defender or race and religion – and even as the future UMMO president or a Prime Minister material in the making – little wonder that the Merlimau state assemblyman is emboldened to renew his animosity with the DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY).
This came about after the DAP’s youth wing urged the Pontian Municipal Council (MPPn to withdraw its 30-day shut down order on a dental clinic for displaying an upside down Jalur Gemilang in conjunction with the forthcoming Merdeka Day.

“The real hypocrites! By right, there shouldn’t only be forced closure of the business but a much heavier punishment should be meted out on people who don’t respect the Jalur Gemilang,” the Russia-trained medical doctor hit out.
“But what’s the point when those who rebuked such action swiftly get charged (referring to himself) while those who fly the Jalur Gemilang upside down are still shaking their legs at home!
