Reformasi Govt Now Turned Oppressor Dr M Says
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has ridiculed PKR's reformasi tagline, claiming the government the party is leading has turned into an oppressor instead.
He claimed many citizens have complained they are living in fear of the government.
"Why are they scared of the government? Because they cannot make any mistake or else, they would be questioned by the police.
"Now they can't speak about the 3Rs (race, religion and royalty). But all the issues that have surfaced are related to the 3Rs.
"They are Malays, but cannot speak about Malay issues. They are Muslims, but they cannot speak about Islam. They want to refer matters to the Malay rulers, but they are not allowed to speak about the royals.
"They cannot speak about the (royal) addendum. They are not allowed to be a whistleblower or else they will come under investigation," Mahathir said on Facebook today.
‘No need for courts’
Reformasi is the Malay word for reform, which means making changes to improve an institution.
It became popular in Malaysia after Anwar supporters used the word as their tagline during an uprising against Mahathir in 1998, after he sacked Anwar from the government.
Adding further, the centenarian claimed many are afraid to speak up today in fear of getting locked up.
"Being locked up is no different from getting jailed. There is no need for the court.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi"Instead, some who were being tried in court, their proceedings were stopped, and not only that, (the person) can be a minister," he said, in an apparent jibe at Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"Now they want to change how judges are selected, how state legislative assemblies are managed.
"Reformasi - silencing the rakyat, that is re-4-masi Liau-Liau,” Mahathir added. - Mkini
