Refer Takiyuddin To Parliamentary Privileges Committee Says Lim
DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has urged Takiyuddin Hassan to be referred to the Parliamentary Committee of Privileges after the latter dubbed the former's non-Malay prime minister remark as "poisonous propaganda".
In addition, Lim wants the PAS secretary-general to apologise and withdraw his remark.
"Takiyuddin should be referred to the committee of privileges (to see) whether he has violated his oath as an MP to 'preserve, protect, and defend' the Federal Constitution.
"By suggesting that the non-Malay PM remark is 'poisonous propaganda', which has the potential to create disharmony, is Takiyuddin suggesting that the Federal Constitution and the Rukun Negara are divisive and inflammatory documents?" Lim asked in a statement today.
This was in response to Takiyuddin (above, left) urging Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to control and stop DAP's "toxic narratives".
Lim recently brought up the possibility of a non-Malay becoming prime minister and Federal Territories DAP chief Tan Kok Wai suggested reinstating the local council election.
DAP’s Tan Kok WaiInstead of asking Anwar to do such a thing, Lim questioned whether Takiyuddin would set out to make PAS a more moderate party.
"Will PAS shed its extremism and become a moderate Islamist party in keeping with the Federal Constitution and Malaysia as a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-cultural, and multi-civilisation country?"
The police questioned Lim after he raised the possibility of a non-Malay being appointed premier while speaking to a group of students.
As for Tan's local council election proposal, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said there are more basic matters to prioritise including governance of strata properties.
