Ratu Naga Laments Dap Unfazed About Madani Govt S Lavish Overseas Expenses Compared To Bossku S

THE political arena is laden with hypocrisy especially when what was mentioned in the past can come back to haunt a politician especially when his words were captured on record.
That seems to be the case when opposition-slant blogger Ratu Naga a.k.a. Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah invited netizens “to rate” the Madani government’s seemingly exorbitant expenditure for official trips abroad by comparing with that during the administration of disgraced Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
This came about as former UMNO warlord Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim had recently questioned the RM44 mil bill of the 234 overseas trips last year by cabinet ministers in the Madani government.

The Arau MP was referring to figures released by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa while stating that what the Madani cabinet spent in 2024 mirrors the entire expenses forked out on overseas trips from 2008 to 2013 during Najib’s premiership.
“When I was a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, the cost of overseas trips, consisting of the cabinet and the PM, foreign minister’s expenses from 2008 to 2013 were RM44 mil,” recalled Shahidan who is now sits in the PAS central committee.
“Nga Kor Ming who was the then (DAP) Taiping MP was shocked and condemned the Najib cabinet for having spent RM44 mil. I was also shocked but I’m even more shocked today for the Madani government having spent RM44 mil in just one year.”
Misinformation
But truth be told, Nga who is now the DAP vice-chairman and Teluk Intan MP had on July 17, 2013 criticised Najib for having incurred a staggering RM44.1 mil on his trips abroad – as opposed to that of his entire cabinet – between March 2008 and May 2013.

Interestingly, the current Housing and Local Government Minister was referencing a Dewan Rakyat written reply to him by coincidentally Shahidan himself which stated that the amount spent by Najib and his entourage significantly exceeded his predecessor Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who spent under RM30 mil during his six-year reign (2003-2009).
Regardless of the misinformation, Ratu Naga who is currently a staunch Perikatan Nasional (PN) influencer has leveraged Shahidan’s latest statement by asking why Nga has been keeping mum over the Madani’s administration spending a similar amount in one year alone.
The firebrand activist further claimed that there was plenty of foreign investment during the so-called Bossku’s reign which cannot be said for the current ruling coalition.
Her Facebook post has generated plenty of feedback with many netizens demanding to know what is the ROI (return on investment).

One said this huge expenditure under the Madani administration was reflective of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s quest for self-promotion on the world stage.

One was surprised that the costs came up to so much considering that there was supposed to be sponsorship for official flights.

With some sneering there were those who still supported such an administration that included the DAP.

One commenter wondered if the current administration would hide behind the excuse of rising cost of goods to justify this expenditure.

Another claimed this was similar to the tendency of the Employee Provident Funds (EPF) “to sell its shares at a loss and buy back at a high”.

Alas, despite this being a pertinent question that needs to be answered, many fell back on racist, outmoded or blinkered methods to criticise DAP.

As one netizen underlined, these are the issues that need to be highlighted so that it is easy to replace this government.

There is absolutely no need to fall back on racist tirades to get the point across especially when misinformation has occurred. This is where Malaysians need to make the giant leap forward and not make everything about race and religion.
Otherwise, we will be stuck in the same endless cycle. – Focus Malaysia
