Mp How Is Govt Fostering Unity When Dap Minister Toys With Islam
PARLIAMENT | Pendang MP Awang Solahuddin Hashim has questioned how the Unity Ministry can carry out its purpose if a DAP minister allegedly interfered in Islamic matters.
In his speech debating the king’s royal address in the Dewan Rakyat today, he highlighted recent events that he claims did not help to promote harmony among the people.
“Recently, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) intended to expand the alcohol sales ban for predominantly Malay-Muslim areas.
“However, a minister from DAP immediately reacted, even crossing the boundaries of the state government’s jurisdiction.
“Most of the convenience stores in predominantly Malay-Muslim areas are owned by Muslims. What is the intention of this DAP minister in wanting them to be involved in transactions with Muslims? What is the intention if not to disturb the faith of Muslims?” he said.
DAP minister on solat hajat
Elaborating, Awang also referred to a DAP minister who allegedly mocked and belittled Islam by making light of the idea of performing solat hajat (prayer seeking help).
“Does he even know how to perform the solat hajat? Does he know how to perform wudhu? How many rakaat for the solat hajat? What should be recited? Don’t joke if you don’t know. We are pointing this out to encourage greater harmony,” he remarked.
Although he did not name the minister, it is believed that Awang was referring to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor MingOn Jan 26, Nga assured the public that there would be no changes to the existing regulations regarding alcohol sales.
This followed reports that Ipoh mayor Rumaizi Baharin suggested that MBI consider expanding the restriction on alcoholic beverage sales to areas with a majority Muslim population.
The policy has only been enforced in Manjoi so far.
On Jan 22, a TikTok video uploaded by ‘demirakyatchannel’ showed Nga saying he would perform solat hajat for new helicopters to arrive for firefighters.
Concluding his remarks, Awang said Muslims have been tolerant and never interfered in non-Muslim matters.
“Therefore, the government must act quickly because the people are waiting for clear, fair, and effective solutions,” he said.
