Rafizi Reminds Pn Of No Sabotage Development Pledge
Perikatan Nasional must ease up on the racial issues that they have been playing up, said the PKR deputy president.PANDAN INDAH: Economic affairs minister Rafizi Ramli has urged Perikatan Nasional to seek a discussion with the government and become a progressive opposition before asking for equal distribution of development grants for MPs.
“The matter has to be discussed first but if we look at the previous government, the distribution of allowances to opposition MPs must involve commitments to ensure that the administration and the government’s agenda are not disrupted,” he said.
Rafizi, who is PKR deputy president, said the memorandum of understanding between Pakatan Harapan and the Ismail Sabri Yaakob government had called on both sides to agree on certain matters.
“Until now the opposition has yet to ease up on the racial issues that they have been playing up. They must be functional in a healthy way. They have yet to do anything but at the same time, they are just waiting for everything to be given to them,” Rafizi said.
He said the opposition must accept the current financial situation that they left behind during the previous administration.
“If we look at the current financial situation, everything has to be taken into consideration. I’m sure the people will not be satisfied if the allocation for schools was cut to enable equal allowances for MPs,” he said.
He said Perikatan Nasional should emulate what PH did with the Ismail government.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that the development allowance for MPs would be reduced from RM3.8 million to RM1.3 million.
In response, Perikatan Nasional chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan reminded Anwar to distribute the allowances equally to all MPs. - FMT
