Rafizi Pas Is Not A Malicious Party But Anwar S Legacy Is Uncertain

FORMER PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli said last night (Aug 29) in the Yang Berhenti Menteri podcast that while PAS was not a malicious party and merely sought to be in government, he still found it difficult to lend the party his support.
“If we are talking about intentions, I have no issue with PAS. I do not think they are malicious. They just want to be in government,” he said in the latest episode of his podcast, adding that many people asked him why he did not support PAS, as they had many good people.
“But being a good person may not necessarily resolve the country’s problems,” he said, noting that competence was required to help solve the problems in the country.
Rafizi has turned down offers to join PAS, saying he was loyal to PKR.
On Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Rafizi likened him to former premier Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, suggesting Anwar could be better appreciated and remembered after he lost power.
“For Anwar, hopefully the best case scenario for him, whatever happens, one day people will remember him like (they do) Abdullah.
“Meaning (they will say), ‘actually, maybe we didn’t give him enough credit’,” Rafizi said on the latest episode of his podcast last night.
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is often seen as one of Malaysia’s most underrated prime ministers, remembered for key reforms like establishing the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Judicial Appointments Commission Act, but criticised for relying heavily on his “fourth-floor boys” advisers led by son-in-law and former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi introduced the Islam Hadari concept in 2004. It promoted a progressive and tolerant vision of Islam, aligning faith with modern development and countering post-9/11 negative perceptions. — Focus Malaysia
