Rafizi Accuses Anwar Of 20 Minute Roast Pkr Colleagues Dispute It
Former PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has claimed that party president Anwar Ibrahim yelled at him for around 20 minutes during the party’s final central leadership council meeting before its May 23 internal election.
Airing the allegation during a recent episode of his “Yang Berhenti Menteri” podcast, Rafizi remarked that the supposed reprimand was triggered by concerns he raised regarding the party’s digital voting system.
“There was a big fight (during the meeting). Anwar yelled at me for 20 minutes at the time,” the former economy minister said.
Asserting that the system raised serious transparency concerns, the Pandan MP said that during the meeting, he had brought up his grouses with how the system’s technical aspects, including its source code and servers, could potentially be manipulated to favour a candidate contesting in the party’s polls.
He also said that during the meeting, the system’s developer had presented details of its structure, adding: “The developer thought we are all stupid and don’t understand IT. He forgot that I have a start-up (in the field).”
However, two council members have come forward to dismiss the shouting claim as baseless.
‘No shouting, not even a minute’
Taking to Facebook, Maszlee Malik poured scorn on Rafizi’s allegation, insisting that Anwar had not raised his voice “for even a single minute” during the meeting.
Maszlee said a majority of other council members present at the time would be able to provide a similar testimony.

Former education minister Maszlee Malik“Whoever claims that (Anwar) shouted at them for 20 minutes during that meeting is either lying, hallucinating, or suffering from chronic schizophrenia,” the former education minister said in his post late last night.
Expressing similar sentiments, Perlis PKR chief Noor Amin Ahmad appeared to mock Rafizi’s account of the meeting in a brief tongue-in-cheek denial posted on X.
“I also attended (the meeting). I wasn’t aware of any major arguments. I don’t recall any raised voices lasting for nearly half an hour,” he said.
ADSAlleged discrepancies in PKR polls
During the party election, Rafizi was defeated by his sole contender, Nurul Izzah Anwar, in his bid to retain the PKR deputy presidency.
PKR’s election committee previously denied Rafizi’s accusation that it failed to function effectively during the party’s divisional polls.
Many who were known to be Rafizi’s allies had lost to ordinary members in the divisional polls, which were held from April 11-20, while the PKR central leadership committee ultimately moved to accept the results.
The independent auditor tasked with evaluating PKR’s divisional and branch-level polls also reported that the e-voting system functioned effectively, though with certain shortcomings requiring enhancement.
Following the audit, an independent technical review commissioned by an unsuccessful Puchong PKR candidate, Anbarasan Murugesu, identified alleged discrepancies in the e-voting system.
The review, conducted by two IT experts, found that a report had previously highlighted the issues and advocated for more thorough scrutiny, contending that the official audit had minimised the significance of the issues. - Mkini
