Putra Heights Fire Selangor Govt Approves List Of Panel Members To Assess Technical Report

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari speaks to reporters after inspecting the rebuilding and repair works of homes belonging to victims of the Putra Height explosion and fire, at Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru today.SUBANG JAYA: The Selangor State Executive Council Meeting (MMKN) has approved a list of individuals to be members of an independent committee to assess the investigation report on the gas pipeline explosion incident that occurred in Putra Heights on April 1.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the independent panel would comprise eight people, including two representatives from the opposition party in the state, who will review and evaluate the technical report following the investigation carried out by the police, the fire department and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).
"Most of the individuals approved at the MMKN early this month are professionals, have specialist qualifications and are from various fields, including policy makers to (specialist fields) slopes, hills and the oil and gas sector.
"Selangor State Secretary (Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin) will meet them soon," he told reporters after a working visit to check on the progress of the rebuilding and repair of the houses of victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion in Taman Putra Harmoni and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru today.
Amirudin said 79 houses in Taman  Putra Harmoni were identified to be redeveloped under the management of Sime Darby Property.
He said that of the total, only 49 owners or occupants agreed to have the work carried out, while the rest did not agree to the implementation of rebuilding and repair works.
Amirudin also said that 120 houses with moderate damage are being repaired, and of these, 86 houses have submitted claims totalling RM3.9 million, with payments for 61 units already settled.
As for Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, Amirudin said the process to repair and rebuild is being carried out under the management of Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB).
He added that three of the 11 units identified for rebuilding had been completed, while the rest are expected to be ready by the end of October.
"In addition, a total of 63 homeowners have submitted claims for repair costs valued at RM1.7 million, and payments have been made to 50 of them," he said.
