Puad S Lesson On Pas Peppered With False Claim Dap Mca Silent On Zara
An Umno supreme council member has falsely accused DAP and MCA of not speaking up on the death of 13-year-old Sabah student Zara Qairina Mahathir.
ADSPuad Zarkashi had raised this in criticising MCA former vice-president Ti Lian Ker for claiming that PAS appeared more rational compared to Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh and former law minister Zaid Ibrahim for agreeing with him.
“Don’t assume that PAS is somehow more ‘dignified’ (berhemah) just because Akmal defended the Malaysian flag from being flown upside down. Akmal has never framed the flag issue as a racial matter.
“Has Umno Youth ever questioned why Ti Lian Ker, MCA, LFL (Lawyers for Liberty) and DAP remain silent on the Zara case? Is it because she was Malay? When will PAS go to Dataran Merdeka over Zara’s case? Or is only the ‘Turun Anwar’ rally considered ‘dignified’?” he asked in a social media post.
Contrary to his allegation, DAP and MCA have raised concerns over Zara’s case with their respective Youth wings on Aug 13, urging the Education Ministry to suspend the school staff who are being investigated instead of merely relocating them.
Sarawak DAP secretary Alan Ling had also expressed outrage over the controversy surrounding the investigation into Zara’s death, calling for urgent reforms in police investigative procedures and supervision.

Sarawak DAP secretary Alan Ling“This makes me very angry, as the family has lost a loved one. The IO (investigation officer), who is trained in investigative procedures and standard operating procedures (SOP), should have informed the family of their rights and fulfilled their duties diligently,” he had said.
Earlier today, MCA president Wee Ka Siong revealed that Zara’s case and the attack on PKR lawmaker Rafizi Ramli’s son were among the issues raised during the Johor MCA meeting, which he chaired.
‘Anti-Islam’
In his Facebook post, Puad (above) referred to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s controversial “Amanat” (address).
“Maybe they (Ti and Zaid) never read Hadi’s amanat, which to this day Hadi has never revoked. That amanat is the root of branding of others as infidels, with PAS eager to pass judgment: this is halal, that is haram. And is that what Ti and Zaid proudly call being ‘civil’?” he asked.
Puad also pointed out that non-Malay political parties that refuse to cooperate with PAS are branded as anti-Islam, while those who side with them are sanctified.

“That’s why during the PAS-DAP alliance, PAS claimed DAP understood Islam better than Umno. Now, the same DAP is accused of being anti-Islam,” he added.
ADSPuad said Ti and Zaid have also forgotten that Umno was the first to initiate tahaluf siyasi (political cooperation) with non-Malay parties with the formation of the Alliance, which later became BN.
He added that one of the reasons Umno was once branded as an “infidel” by PAS was because of its cooperation with MCA and MIC.
“Umno has never wavered in its identity as a Malay party. It was accused of being ‘assabiyah’ (chauvinist) simply because it is founded on Malay nationalism. But Ti and Zaid do not really understand Umno’s brand of nationalism.
“Umno does not advocate a narrow concept of Malayness like (Adolf) Hitler did with the Aryan race, claiming it was the best in the world and massacring Jews, sparking World War II.
“Does Umno promote genocide? No. Umno defends the unwritten ‘social contract’, which is why SJKC (Chinese vernacular schools) and SJKT (Tamil vernacular schools) still exist today. Yet DAP and MCA accuse each other of failing to defend Chinese schools.
“It must be remembered that Umno’s Malay struggle has never deviated from the Constitution, such as safeguarding Malay special rights. Do Ti and Zaid consider that uncivil?” he asked. - Mkini
