Probe Who Leaked Alleged Jac Minutes Kepong Dap Youth Tells Cops
Kepong DAP Youth has lodged a police report urging authorities to investigate the individual behind the purported leak of a Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) meeting minutes.
In his report filed at the Kepong police station at around noon, the wing’s chief, Jefferson Chia, called on police to probe whether the classified document had indeed been leaked online.
“If (the leak) is legitimate, the police must identify the individual who leaked the classified document in question and take stern legal action against them,” Chia added.
When contacted, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng stood by the report, asserting that the authorities must thoroughly investigate all allegations involving the judiciary, including the supposed leak of documents classified under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).
ADSThe DAP lawmaker noted that such probes are essential to safeguard the integrity and sanctity of the judicial institution.
"If no action is taken against those responsible (for the alleged leak), it sets a dangerous precedent where private discussions and confidential documents, even those concerning matters of national security, can no longer be safeguarded," he added.

Kepong MP Lim Lip EngCommunications Minister Fahmi Fadzil earlier said he is unable to confirm the authenticity of a document alleged to be the minutes of a JAC meeting that has been circulating online since yesterday.
He said if the document is indeed authentic and classified, it would fall under the OSA, thus warranting “caution” in the handling of the matter.
"If it is authentic and classified as secret, especially for my media friends, I urge you to be careful - do not disseminate it,” he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Fahmi added that the alleged leak is likely to be discussed by the cabinet, while investigations have been handed over to the police.
Leaked minutes
Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported that an alleged excerpt of a JAC meeting minutes from May might have been leaked on social media.
The minutes supposedly contain allegations echoing those in a leaked police report lodged in June on behalf of a senior judge, who had been accused of judicial interference.
The police report was lodged after Malaysiakini contacted the judge on June 12 seeking comment on certain allegations involving the judge reportedly made during a JAC meeting.
Last week, nine PKR lawmakers led by Rafizi Ramli called for a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) as well as the Parliament Special Select Committee on reforms to probe the allegations.
Tomorrow, the Malaysian Bar will march to hand over a memorandum to the prime minister, calling for an RCI, among other demands. - Mkini
