The photograph of a Muslim individual performing prayers in a Hindu temple amidst the gas pipeline blaze has reminded Malaysians that unity across different faiths and races is not merely a dream, said Malaysian Advancement Party chairperson P Waytha Moorthy.

“It reflected the beautiful reality that when we embrace one another’s differences, we become stronger and more united, demonstrating the harmony that has always been at the heart of our nation.
“This heartfelt episode calls upon us to remember the noble vision of our forefathers, who, when they fought for independence, dreamed of a Malaysia where all could live together, hand in hand, as one people.
“In this moment, we are reminded that unity is not just a dream but a living, breathing reality that we must nurture, protect, and carry forward,” he said in a statement today.
Waytha urged Malaysians to reject hatred and division, and to embrace the true spirit of muhibah (goodwill), as embodied in the photograph.

“This selfless gesture from the Hindu community is a testament to the deep sense of compassion and solidarity that thrives within us as Malaysians.
“It reminds us all that, regardless of race or religion, we are bound by a shared commitment to one another, standing together in times of crisis,” he added.
The photograph emerged amid polarised views regarding Hindu temples following the controversial relocation of the 130-year-old Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple in Jalan Masjid India to make way for mosque construction.
