Pn Not Behind Provocative Banners Says Bersatu Leader
One banner purportedly put up by PN stated that non-Malays are outsiders in Malaysia. (Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional has nothing to do with several provocative banners that were put up in several parts of Bangi, Selangor, recently, say two Bersatu leaders.
This comes after several pictures of the banners circulated online, with one saying voting for PN was a ticket to heaven, while another said non-Malays are outsiders in Malaysia.
Yet another banner stated that “youngsters would become lost and rotten if they vote for the unity government”.
Bersatu Supreme Council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan condemned those who had hung up these banners, saying it reeked of racial provocation and was done by irresponsible parties.
“It made it seem as though PN had put up these banners. We were not involved at all. In fact, we have been campaigning in a healthy and harmonious manner.
“I have ordered our election machinery to immediately take down these banners if they see them,” he said in a Facebook post.
Wan Saiful, the Tasek Gelugor MP, is also Bangi Bersatu chief.
Bersatu associate wing chairman Chong Fat Full also denied that the coalition had a hand in those banners, saying it was “definitely not PN’s work”.
“I hope it is not our opponents’ work as well. Perhaps it is their supporters’ work,” he told FMT.
Chong added that every political party and candidate should respect the democratic electoral system and campaign in a gentlemanly manner. - FMT
