We Re Still Relevant In Ns Despite Drop In Votes Says Umno Leader
Jalaluddin Alias said Umno performed much better in Negeri Sembilan compared with the party’s showing in the other five states. (Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: Despite seeing a decline in the majority vote count for certain seats, Negeri Sembilan Umno chief Jalaluddin Alias says the party is still relevant in the state.
Comparing Umno’s performance in five other states which had their elections yesterday, Jalaluddin said the results in Negeri Sembilan favoured the party.
“Out of the 17 seats we contested, we won 14. This means that the majority of the people still have confidence in Umno,” he said when contacted.

Jalaluddin also said both BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) assemblymen now have the responsibility to fulfil their promises and enhance their service offerings.
“(This is) so that the people of Negeri Sembilan will once again give their mandate to the unity government for another five years,” he said.
Separately, Jalaluddin said he does not know who will be sworn in as Negeri Sembilan menteri besar tomorrow.
Earlier today, Negeri Sembilan PH chief Aminuddin Harun said the decision on who will take up the post has yet to be finalised. However, he confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony will take place at 3pm tomorrow at Istana Besar Seri Menanti, Kuala Pilah.
PH and BN will form the new state government after winning a two-thirds majority in the 36-seat state assembly yesterday.
