Not True Lau Says Of Claim He Was Turned Away From Pas Ceramah

Gerakan president Dominic Lau says he was unable to meet PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang as the latter came late.PETALING JAYA: Gerakan president Dominic Lau has denied a report that he was asked to leave a Perikatan Nasional ceramah in Sungai Dua, Penang, last night.
“It is untrue that I was, at any point, asked to leave,” he told FMT.
Lau said he had gone to the ceramah to meet Abdul Hadi Awang after the PAS president told him to be there at 9pm, just before the ceramah. Hadi, however, only arrived at 10.30pm.
Ads by Kiosked“I was there to meet him but as the event ran late, I could not speak to him and I had to leave for a meeting.”
Lau said he had since spoken to Hadi.
He was asked to comment on a Sin Chew report that he was told to leave the ceramah after apparently showing up uninvited.
Gerakan deputy president Oh Tong Keong had confirmed that the party was not invited to attend the ceramah, adding that he only knew about the event through Facebook live.
Last night’s incident comes in the wake of reports that a group of PAS grassroots members had protested against Lau’s candidacy in Bayan Lepas because they wanted a PAS member to be fielded to contest the Malay-majority seat.
Lau had dismissed claims that PAS grassroots members were not supporting him, saying that some local leaders came to show their support on nomination day. - FMT
