Pkr Youth Leader Returns Condolences Labels Fadhli Failed Shadow Minister

In a curious contest of “condolences”, PKR Youth deputy chief Nabil Halimi has turned the tables on PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, accusing him of an unremarkable stint as the shadow youth and sports minister.
He extended his “condolences” to the Pasir Mas MP for being part of Perikatan Nasional’s shadow cabinet, which he described as “shadows without substance”.
Nabil (above, right) added that Fadhli (above, left) had failed to present any constructive national ideas related to the youth and sports portfolio.
“As the shadow minister, Fadhli should provide input on the Madani government’s efforts to create opportunities for young people, such as the appointment of (Sungai Petani MP) Taufiq Johari, aged 29, as youth and sports minister, and (Miri MP) Chiew Choon Man, aged 34, as deputy minister of tourism, arts, and culture.
“These appointments show that PKR Youth, under the leadership of (Youth chief) Kamil Munim, is very proactive in empowering youth roles in government administration,” he said in a statement.
New cabinet ministers and deputy ministersNabil’s remarks were made in response to Fadhli's condoling the “death of reformasi” after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced the new cabinet lineup, specifically highlighting that he retained the finance minister portfolio.
“The new cabinet has finally been announced. The prime minister remains the finance minister.
“The important reform promise has now been officially buried. Condolences,” Fadhli said in a Facebook post yesterday.
Bold reforms
Disagreeing that reformasi has been laid to rest, Nabil argued that the Madani government had implemented bold and significant reforms during Anwar’s three-year tenure.
Among the reforms he listed were targeted subsidies, expanded taxation without affecting essential goods and services, minimum wage implementation, civil servant salary increases, and strengthened fiscal discipline and national debt control.
“The Finance Ministry has also aggressively pursued legal and governance reforms, such as implementing the Public Finance and Fiscal Responsibility Act 2023, the Government Procurement Bill to limit the finance minister’s powers through checks and balances, the Consumer Credit Bill to regulate the credit industry, and the Government Service Efficiency Commitment Act 2025 to reduce bureaucratic red tape,” he said.
Prime Minister Anwar IbrahimAccording to Nabil, these reforms have led to the ringgit strengthening to a four-year high, the lowest unemployment rate in a decade, the lowest inflation in 51 months, a fiscal deficit reduced to 3.8 percent compared to 5.5 percent in 2022, and a reduction in new national debt.
“Reform is not just about changing positions or symbols; it is about the commitment of those entrusted to improve administrative systems, strengthen financial governance, and ensure that accountability is consistently implemented,” he said.
In this context, Nabil challenged Fadhli to present ideas that could match the youth and sports portfolio.
“If none, then should PN become the government, you should never take this position for fear that the ministry will be buried along with you,” he added. - Mkini
