Pkr To Launch Five Year Empowerment Plan Focus On Kelantan And Terengganu
PKR will launch its five-year plan to build its strength from the ground up as part of efforts to increase public confidence in the party, particularly in the PAS strongholds of Kelantan and Terengganu.
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the plan - to be launched at the end of next month and in place by March 1 - is part of a long-term strategy in preparations for the 16th general election.
"Through the five-year plan until 2028, we will focus on the skills of PKR members in Kelantan and Terengganu, their quality and participation in activities involving the community.
"The plan is also to build the public's confidence in the two states so they can see advantages offered by PKR members, as opposed to the current situation where they appear uncertain towards our party," said Rafizi (above) at a press conference after launching PKR's Kelantan State Election Convention in Kota Baru, today.
"Towards the effort, PKR leaders at the central level will come down to the ground and assist the state leaders and ensure their success," he added.
Also present at the event was PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, also the party's Kelantan and Terengganu chief.
Pakatan Harapan currently has zero representation at both parliament and state levels in Kelantan and Terengganu, with PAS as part of PN successfully retaining and capturing all the parliament seats in the last 15th general election.
The last time PKR had parliamentary representation from Kelantan was in 2008 - with three MPs - at the time in an alliance with PAS under the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.
Meanwhile, Rafizi, who is also economy minister, announced the setting-up of a PKR Cooperative to be launched a month from today.
He said the cooperative will comprise PKR members nationwide as part of efforts towards economic empowerment. - Mkini
