Pjd Link Cancellation Fahmi Tells Govt Critics To Read Pwd Statement

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today told those who criticised the federal government's decision to cancel the Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link Expressway (PJD Link) to read the Public Works Department (PWD) statement.
He said PWD has already come out with thorough details on the matter.
"You must read the decision with the PWD statement. I have mentioned in my previous press conference, even after the (recent) cabinet meeting) I have said that there will be statements by the Works Ministry and indeed the PWD has issued one.
"So, I want to ask those who wish to get more information regarding the project cancellation to refer to the statement," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
Fahmi, who is the government spokesperson, was responding to former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin who criticised his lack of expertise and capability to answer questions about PJD Link.

In his latest “Keluar Sekejap” podcast, Khairy said Fahmi had left out details regarding compensation the government allegedly has to pay PJD Link developer and alternative solutions for traffic jam woes.
"When you announce a major decision like this, you must have the details. You must firstly explain about the compensation.
"Secondly, the PJD Link project was dubbed the solution to the traffic congestion problem (in Petaling Jaya)... the government has to explain their next move to address this problem following the cancellation.
"You shouldn't simply announce it. He also does not have the expertise to answer these questions," Khairy reportedly said, hinting that the announcement to cancel PJD Link should have been made by the minister in charge of the matter.
On April 17, Fahmi announced Putrajaya’s decision not to go ahead with the project after its concession company failed to comply with six out of 11 conditions set by the government.
The next day, Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi reportedly said he was unsure if the government would have to compensate the developer.
Following this, a group of Petaling Jaya residents have come forward to urge Putrajaya to reconsider the decision, saying that it would help ease traffic jams. - Mkini
